Testing Out My New Camera

So I shot this short clip showcasing a route I recently set at the wall at which I work. I mostly just did it to test out my new camera. I hope the embedding works!

I'll be using this new video camera for my trip to Red Rocks (which begins next week). Hopefully I'll have some pretty cool stuff shot so that I can post it on here!

Final Exams

I've got my final exams this week at school. That means no climbing :( ..... or does it? My last final exam ends at 6:30 pm on thursday and the second place I'm going is the climbing wall! (The first place is to get some food) I'm gonna be doing some route setting thursday night. I'm gonna set a really sweet 5.11 (I've got it all planned out) and if there's time I'm gonna set a something like a 5.7 or 5.8. There will likely be a few of us setting so we should have a bunch of new routes at Mount Royal's climbing wall. Then when all the kids get back from Christmas break they'll have a bunch of new stuff to climb! YAY. I'm probably gonna take a picture or two of the routes and put them on this blog somewhere. So, that's what I'll be thinking about while I'm studying and writing my exams (4 exams in 3 days? I guess it could be worse).

Peewee

I just read an article about a Canadian climber named "Peewee" Ouellet. He has been sending some hard trad climbs down in the US. I was glad to see this article because I feel like there is a lot of news about a lot of climbers but not a lot of news about Canadian climbers. This may be because there aren't that many well known Canadian climbers. Canadian climbers that I have seen in the news in the last year: Sean McColl, Thomasina Pidgeon, and Sonnie Trotter. I know of a bunch of other great Canadian climbers but I rarely hear about them in the climbing "news".
It turns out "Peewee" has a pretty slick website and a blog. Check it out.

Inaugural Post!

It is Dec. 6th here in Canada which means I haven't been climbing outside in a while! It is driving me crazy. To fill the void I've been endlessly trawlling the interwebs for interest climbing news, blogs, gear reviews, and videos. I've been doing this of course as a distraction from doing what I probably should be doing - studying for my finals. I'm currently in my 3rd year of university and that keeps me pretty busy. Anyway, after debate I have decided to start my own climbing blog. Maybe someone will even read it one day!

I'm sure in the future I'll quote and reference other blogs a bunch but hopefully this blog won't just end up being a mish-mash of other people's thoughts, ideas, videos, and whatever. I am a climbing instructor (ACMG CGI level 1) so I'm sure I'll always have the indoor stuff to yammer on about as well as my outdoor adventures.

I've created a seperate page that I'll be posting some random videos on. I'll be adding to that from time to time.

I have had a blog that I've been writing on my 8a.nu page. I don't think I'll bother copying my past posts from there onto here. If you're keen you can check it out at your own leisure.
